Club Colours at Magpies' Multi-Storey

Stirling Lloyd's Decseal® combined waterproof wearing course system has been utilised recently at Newcastle United's St James Park Stadium to provide durable, 100% effective long-term protection.

Based on Stirling Lloyd's market leading Eliminator® system, Decseal® combines a tough, flexible, seamless, liquid applied waterproofing membrane with a fully compatible, decorative skid resistant wearing course.

Durable yet lightweight with excellent abrasion, UV and chemical resistance, the Decseal® system has a proven track record of successful applications, including a previous contract at St James Park in 2003, which involved the installation of some 5,000m² of the system to the club's £2m Multi Storey Car Park.

It is the continued success of this application some eighteen months on, which has prompted the Premiership club to use the Decseal® system again, this time on the frequently used Newcastle Brown Stand concourse area.

With plans for the introduction of new shop premises directly beneath the concourse, and as a partially exposed area regularly subjected to heavy pedestrian traffic, the area required a waterproofing/wearing course system that was not only hardwearing, safe and aesthetic, but would also provide long-term effective protection.

As part of an on-going programme of maintenance at the stadium, PCiS Ltd, one of Stirling Lloyd's specially trained and authorised contractors, applied some 1,200m 2 of the system to the concourse exit area.

The system's speed of application and rapid cure time ensured that the work was carried out quickly and that the area was ready in time for the Magpies pre-season friendly against Glasgow Rangers at the end of July. Furthermore, the club had requested that the concourse area reflected the colour scheme used in and around the stadium. This was also made possible courtesy of Decseal®'s range of aesthetically pleasing colours.

As the team rises up the Premiership, appoints a new manager and makes a high profile summer signing, Stirling Lloyd have ensured that one of the most frequently used areas of St James Park will be well protected for many years to come and able to accommodate the ever expanding Toon Army.
